  • In a nutshell, no. Not yet. We are working on this though. There is currently a public consultation looking to debate this very thing.

Couples looking to make their marriage legal need to do so at their local registry office. Most couples opt for the basic 2+2 package (yourselves and two witnesses) a few days before the main celebrant led event. However, you can opt to do this at any time.

  • If you want a bespoke ceremony then a celebrant is for you. You are not restricted by venue, time or date. Registrars are restricted to set scripts and approved venues only. This may not be the only wedding they will do today, so there are time constraints. With a celebrant, yours will be the only ceremony they will perform that day.

A celebrant will tell your story, in the way you want it to be told. There is no limit to the creativity and ideas you want to explore. You also have the freedom to consider meaningful symbolic rituals like handfasting, unity sand pouring, or wine box ceremonies, amongst others.

‍A celebrant-led wedding means freedom of choice and making you the priority.

  • Absolutely - within reason!

  • Yes, of course. Or if you would prefer, I can write them for you based on your vision and values. Your wedding ceremony is a collaborative process, just like photography or the venue design or food served.

  • No, I’m sorry, I don’t. My prices have been calculated to accommodate the amount of work writing, prepping, meeting clients etc.

I also believe celebrancy is a kind and joyous industry. It’s a small supportive world and undercutting one of my peers would be disrespectful and ultimately, distasteful.

  • So a lovely blended family? Perfect. There are so many ways you can include family members in a moving, celebratory way. When we meet we will discuss your vision and craft ways to incorporate them. Maybe, unity sand pouring or candles, wedding cords, readings. There are so many ways to ensure this day is about what you want.

  • This is entirely your choice. Some people want to include hymns and prayers, others want no mention of any religious symbolism.
